Objectives

Nowadays, basic knowledge of other European systems of private law is increasingly necessary. The Department of Austrian and European Private Law of the University of Salzburg aims to contribute to the preparation of European students to meet these growing needs. Accordingly, our Summer School dealing with selected topics of European Private Law will be held this year for the eleventh time.

University of Salzburg

The Law Faculty of the University of Salzburg is situated in the heart of Salzburg´s world famous old town, which was entered on the World Heritage List of UNESCO in 1997. The Law Faculty is located in the splendid Toskanatrakt, which is part of the former residence of the archbishops - an outstanding and marvellous monument of Salzburg´s cultural history. The students of the Summer School will therefore have the opportunity to take part in an intensive training programme in a unique athmosphere. They will attain essential basic knowledge of other legal systems and will also acquire some basic knowledge of the legal terminology of some of the most important European languages.
