Hannes Winner is Full Professor of Economics at the University of Salzburg. He is International Research Fellow at the Oxford University Centre of Business Taxation, researcher at the National Research Center (NFN) ''The Austrian Center for Labor Economics and the analysis of the Welfare State” (University of Linz) and researcher at the University of Salzburg Center of European Union Studies (SCEUS). Since 2011 he serves as scientific consultant of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO). In 1998, he completed his PhD studies at University of Innsbruck, and in 2003 he received the venia docendi (Habilitation) in Economics from the University of Innsbruck. In 2003, he was visiting professor at the European University Institute in Florence.
His fields of interest include Public Economics and Economics of Taxation, International Economics, Health Economics and Applied Econometrics. He has published in leading academic journals like Journal of International Economics, European Economic Review, Canadian Journal of Economics, Health Economics, International Tax and Public Finance or Regional Science and Urban Economics. His current research is on the empirical impact of taxation on locational, investment and financing decisions of (multinational) firms.
