International PhD Programme at the University of Salzburg

Imaging the Mind
Consciousness, Higher Mental and Social Processes

The programme covers the following interdisciplinary areas: neurocognition, psychology (clinical, cognitive, developmental and social), linguistics and biology. Faculty and research projects:

  • Hubert Haider: psycholinguistics of syntactic processing
  • Eva Jonas: neural foundations of mortality awareness and reactance; reactance and perspective taking
  • Hubert Kerschbaum: sex-dependent differences in stress response and number processing
  • Wolfgang Klimesch: functional meaning of EEG brain oscillations
  • Josef Perner: theory of mind (perspective taking), consciousness, episodic memory
  • Manuel Schabus: sleep and cognition; neuronal correlates of consciousness; disorders of consciousness research
  • Frank Wilhelm: emotion regulation, stress, neural processes of mental disorders and psychotherapy
  • Heinz Wimmer: reading and dyslexia

The programme started 1st October 2011.
