From May 20 to May 25 2007 the Center for Ethics and Poverty Research organized an international conference with 40 young scientists from whole europe. It dealt with "perspectives on work" . They exchanged new ideas, discussed good practices and developed creative suggestions and concrete recommendations. During the conference, the young scientists met in groups around topical clusters, had plenary sessions, and had encounters with experts from the International Labour Organization and practitioners working in the area. The workshop was organized in four clusters:
Cluster 1: The concept and ethics of work: Trying to make sense
Cluster 2: Work, Policy Implications and the European Union
Cluster 3: The future of work
Cluster 4: Alternative forms of work and the challenge of unemployment
All the participants had been asked to prepare a 3-5 pages paper in advance that introduced, described and
discussed one single idea about Out of this papers the Center for Ethics and Poverty Research prepared a master document, which was the starting point for the workshop discussions. There will be a follow up of this week – we will try to encourage the realization of selected ideas and suggestions together with business partners and relevant institutions. It is also our intention to create a network of scholars on the basis of our shared time here in Salzburg.
