Startup Salzburg

Together with its cooperation partners, the University of Salzburg started the new networking incubator “Startup Salzburg” in January 2016. The project offers systemic and individual support for innovative, knowledge-intense start-up projects from various fields (life sciences, creative business, IT, etc.), with the aim of solidifying Salzburg’s reputation as a knowledge, innovation and business location.

The Startup Salzburg initiative identifies innovative start-up projects, pooling the varied competences of its partners to support  the young founders in their business creation.

Startup Salzburg partners

The support scheme

In order to promote entrepreneurial spirit and encourage new ideas, Startup Salzburg offers a variety of services (challenges, canvas sessions, etc.) as part of the “idea phase”, which are open to all creative and innovative founders. At every partner institution, there will be a dedicated Startup Salzburg service point offering counselling services, entrepreneurship information and networking opportunities for students.

(Pre-)Foundation phase

During the (pre-) foundation phase, Startup Salzburg focuses on the development and elaboration of business ideas (“getting started” feedback format, Startup Salzburg weekend) and their technical implementation and fosters the networking and exchange of ideas with other founders and/or established companies. This section of the program is all about questioning your business model, learning from each other, getting support for difficult stages and avoiding mistakes.

Maturity phase

For select, highly innovative start-up projects in their maturity phase (with foundation and market maturity), Startup Salzburg will offer a special incubation program starting June 2016. Candidates will be nominated from among the Startup Salzburg network and selected by an external jury. The program supports start-up projects in their individual development goals, prepares them for financing and market entry requirements and gives them access to cooperations with established companies.
