CV Gilles Bourret
Research interests
Dr. Bourret’s research activities are centered on controlling 1D, 2D and 3D metal/semiconductor nanoscale architectures for solar conversion, plasmonic applications and sensing. Innovative templated syntheses based on porous membranes and electrochemistry are developed and used to prepare hybrid systems with a nanometer resolution. Such a geometrical control is used to tune important parameters such as near E-field, plasmon resonance wavelength, absorption/scattering cross-sections and distance between the plasmonic materials and the semiconductor, all of which drastically affect the interaction between the metal and the semiconductor. These hybrid structures were recently used to study plasmon-modulated luminescence, surface-enhanced Raman scattering for chemical sensing on surfaces and plasmon-enhanced photodetection.
To date, specific focus has been dedicated to one-dimensional nanostructures. Future possible PhD Theses will investigate ordered arrays of such hybrids with a special attention given to the various metal/semiconductor interfaces, crucial in these systems.
