The philosophy of Franz Brentano and his students has had a highly significant impact on developments in twentieth century philosophy which continue to resonate in the current century. Not only was Brentano the teacher of Husserl, the father of phenomenology, but the origins of analytic philosophy are in certain important respects to be found in responses to the school of Brentano. Besides developing highly original metaphysical ideas, Brentano's views offer inspiring insights into the philosophy of mind, theory of knowledge and values, ethics, aesthetics and religion. On the occasion of the centenary of Franz Brentano death, the scholars and students interested in the philosophy of Franz Brentano and his students will meet at the conference organized in Prague on May 29-31, 2017 which will be preceded by a summer school for students (May 27-28). A joint conference commemorating the centenary of Franz Brentano's death will take place in Vienna on June 1-3, 2017.

This event is co-organised by the Faculty of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences (Prague, CZ), The University of Salzburg (Fachbereich Philosophie KGW/FWF-Research Project P-27215), The University of Geneva (Department of Philosophy/Chair of Laurent Cesalli), the Franz Brentano Internationale Gesellschaft (University of Würzburg, Germany), The University of Liège (Department of Philosophy), and further sponsors (confirmation pending).
