Biological Physics

The biological physicists within the Department Physics and Chemistry of Materials have two major research directions. The first is directed towards the understanding and quantification of the effects of radiation in our environment, the second direction is focussed on understanding the physics of shape change in biological systems.

Environmental Biophysics

The environmental biophysics work-group has three research directions related to,  the behaviour of radionucleotides in the environment,  the quantification and measurement of radiation in the environment and the interactions of radiation with living organisms and its use in medicine.

MorphoPhysics

The MorphoPhysics group is interested in understanding the physical mechanisms that influence growth and shape changes in biological organisms. Our work is done in close collaboration with biologists, physicists and mathematicians.
