We are exploring the ancient Christian writings, their religious ideas, and the historical development of Christianity. The sources for this domain are leather, papyrus, clay fragments, and parchment, as well as a variety of languages and writings in Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, Latin, Syrian, Coptic, etc.

In Biblical Studies, we delve into the writings of the Old and New Testaments, their context and their theology. In Patristics, we deal with the ancient Christian writers, their works and their thoughts. In Ecclesiastical History, we elaborate the historical development of Christianity in all its light and shadows.

We provide key qualifications. Students learn to speak competently about the basic writings and texts of Christianity, its origin and its content. They learn methods of how to approach ancient, biblical and other historical texts, as well as methods of interpretation. We impart language skills to understand ancient sources and literary works. We enable students to acquire basic knowledge of the history of the humanities, theology, art, and social and institutional life in order to gain confidence for managing the tasks at present.
