    Unter der Moderation von Christoph TAKACS (Landesdirektor des ORF Salzburg) analysieren am 18. März 2019 der renommierte Journalist Christian WEHRSCHÜTZ (ORF-Korrespondent für den Balkan und die Ukraine) und der Ostkirchenexperte Dietmar W. WINKLER (Zentrum zur Erforschung des Christlichen Ostens) die politische und kirchliche Lage.
    Walter Thaler hat sich nach seinen zwei Büchern über den Pinzgau wieder seinem bevorzugten Themenbereich gewidmet – der Provinz. Er zeichnet darin die Lebens- und Leidenswege von mehr als 60 Persönlichkeiten nach, die aus dem Pongau stammen oder einen wesentlichen Lebensabschnitt hier verbracht bzw. erlitten haben.
    Die frühneuzeitlichen transpazifischen Beziehungen sind vor allem wegen der berühmten Manila Galeonen bekannt, die zwischen 1565 und 1915 in regelmäßigen Abständen zwischen Manila und Acapulco den Pazifik überquerten. Große Mengen südamerikanischen Silbers, z.B. aus den Minen in Potosí, flossen damals über die Philippinen nach China. Doch nicht nur Seide fand im Austausch ihren Weg nach Lateinamerika. Der Vortrag möchte einige Einblicke in die vielfältigen, indirekten Beziehungen zwischen China und dem Vizekönigreich Peru geben.
