Meeting on 18th March 2019 at Nonntal

The third MMG-PLUS meeting took place at Uni Nonntal. Many new faces joined the meeting and jumped into the discussion about collective future avenues of research and Barrierefreiheit: Kurzbeschreibung des Bildescollaboration. The aim was to identify main research threads which roughly include but are not limited to international labour migration and the mobility of (highy) skilled and less-skilled workers, refugees and forced migration, integration, care, global social policy, social change and migration, global migration history, mobility and tourism studies, populism, racism and nationalism, anti-Semitism and Holocaust studies, human rights and citizenship, gender, sexualities and diversity, transnational social movements and organisational studies, religion, culture, literature, communications and mobilities, education, and youth and migration. Different ideas were floated among the group about how best to incorporate and represent the wealth of the MMG Group at PLUS and beyond, both in the short and long-term. 

Barrierefreiheit: Kurzbeschreibung des BildesThe outcome of the meeting was an agreement to draft a Mission Statement and come together in main thematic groups. The MMG members agreed to summarize their research foci in abstracts and discuss in their thematic group common starting points and outlooks as well as possible ideas for collaboration and cooperation. The goal of this endeavor is to find a shared identity as a group, become visible and gain impact – not only inside academia but also in the everyday societal life, with the view towards potential for policy impact as well. It will also help to spearhead the development of MMG at PLUS in the future.
