Applications/Nominations of mobilities to the University of Salzburg during the next academic year a will be accepted - with regard to cureent COVID-19 measures.

The University of Salzburg Executive Board is currently considering implementing a mixture of on-site and distance learning for the coming semester. We expect to resume normal teaching at the university by the beginning of October, providing that there are no further restrictive regulations imposed before the semester begins. Details about how the courses will be held can be found in the course catalogue of the relevant departments: https://online.uni-salzburg.at/plus_online/webnav.ini (update expected in August 2020).

Please take the recommendations issued by the University of Salzburg Board into account and keep yourself informed by checking the homepage/emails regularly.

The following measures were decided upon:

  • Some University Library locations are open. Please refer to details on the University Library website.
  • All offices with personal contact stay closed. 
  • The Department of International Relations can be contacted by email or phone. The regular opening hours still do not apply. We can only welcome you into the office in exceptional cases accordance with the necessary safety precautions and with an appointment (for details please refer to above mentioned FAQs)

Orientation Week for Erasmus and Exchange Students

The orientation weeks for Erasmus and exchange students studying at the University of Salzburg in the winter semester/ academic year 2020/21 will take place from Monday, 21st September to Thursday, 1st October 2020. Under the given circumstances, the otherwise extensive programme had to be somewhat reduced. Nevertheless, students will receive all important information on studying and living in Salzburg. Faculty and library tours are unfortunately not possible, but virtual tours are being prepared. Meet-ups organised during the orientation weeks will be limited and will only be possible in accordance with COVID-19 regulations. We hope that this will still give you the opportunity to get to know each other and to help you feel more at home, both at the university and in the city of Salzburg. Participation at Orientation Weeks is not obligatory, but recommended!

German Intensive Courses for ERASMUS and Exchange students

The University of Salzburg Department of German offers intensive language courses in German for incoming ERASMUS and exchange students from September 21st to October 2nd, 2020. The aim of the course is both to improve the participants' language competence of German and help the participants to handle everyday situations in Austria. Contribution to costs: € 50.00 per course. 

The course starts on the same day with the Orientation Period offered by the International Relations Department. Course hours are synchronized with the Orientation program. Taking part in both, German language course and Orientation, is possible!

The basic course is now fully booked.

There is only 1 place left on the advanced course. Please first contact Elke Renner to register (before the 14th September, 12.00 midday). Do not send any money in advance!

After your arrival in Salzburg, you should move into your temporary or permanent housing. Next, you should come to the International Relations Office. To finalize the registration process you'll need the admission letter, an Incoming Status Form (issued by the International Office in Salzburg) and your passport.
