Honor on Prof. Roman Hummel

Roman HummelColleagues of Professor Roman Hummel honor his retirement by a new book publication with the title „Was bleibt vom Wandel? Journalismus zwischen ökonomischen Zwängen und gesellschaftlicher Verantwortung“. The book was recently published by Nomos Verlag.

The authors of this book deal with current developments from the perspectives of journalism practice, training in journalism and journalism studies. They discuss topics such as new business models and formats, the socio-demographic change of the profession, and the implications of media change for training in journalism, accountability and media politics.

Awarding a full scholarships by the Austrian Journalism Training Association 2017/2018

KfJ 2015The Austrian Journalism Training Association is assigning a full scholarship to a student (m/f), who is studying Communication Science. 

A wide-ranging basic training in modules creates the professional basis for young journalists and those coming from other professions (Österreichisches Journalisten-Kolleg).

    Salzburg biologists Anja Hörger and Stephanie Socher receive 150,000 Euros in funding for their courageous project idea within the framework of the new “1000 ideas program” from the Austrian Science Fund FWF. Over the next two years the young scientists “Immortal Titans”, will analyze the huge genome of the Titan Arum, the largest flower in the world. The “1000 Ideas Programme” is intended to support high-risk research in order to increase Austria's innovative strength.
