8th of September, 2017: Michael and Kristjan were very excited to present at the 17th Congress of the European Society for Photobiology. Michaels poster on Photodynamic Inactivation of plant pathogens was well received. Together with Prof. Adelaide Almeida, Kristjan organized a symposium on Environmental antimicrobial PDT. Thanks for the outstanding speakers to make this symposium a scientific success!

2nd of August, 2017: Verena successfully defended her PhD thesis. Congratulations and good luck for your further career, we will miss you.

5th of July, 2017: Jenny passed her final exam today and thereby earned the academic degree "Master of Science". Congratulations, Jenny and good luck for your future.

9th of June, 2017: Back to amazing Portugal! The symposium on Antimicrobial Photodynamic Inactivation organized by Prof. Yingying Huang and Kristjan at the 16th International Photodynamic Association World Congress at the University of Coimbra was very well visited and received. We express our sincere thanks to the outstanding experts for presenting their inspiring scientific work in the symposium and to the conference chair Prof. Luis Arnaut for his kind and generous invitation.

25th of May, 2017: Today we received a honorable award for Michael! He was granted a fellowship to attend the European Society for Photobiology Congress, in Pisa, 4-8 September 2017. We congratulate Michael and thank Professor Lesley Rhodes, Chair of the ESP Education & Training Committee, for her generous support.

3rd of May, 2017: Kristjan initiated a workgroup team on Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance at the pre-conference workshop Horizon 2020 - Workshop for Networking and Building Working Groups in frame of the 10th ECIM and 12th ICCMR World Congress for Integrative Medicine & Health 2017 in Berlin, Germany.

4th of February, 2017: Advisor for health! Kristjan accepted this honorable duty and now supports the initiative Innovation 4.X.

21st of January, 2017: Kristjan joined the Innoversum-meeting "Paradigma digitalis" organized by the Platform Innovation 4.X in Linz.

19th of January, 2017: Good news: Christoph has joined our team as master student. 

1st of January, 2017: The lab PDI-PLUS is now member of the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology. We are very excited!

15th of July, 2016: A great day for our lab! Today we got a manuscript accepted for publication in The Lancet Infectious Diseases (IF=21.372).

11th of July, 2016: Lucie joins our lab for a practical course. Warm welcome, Lucie, we are happy to have you with us.

5th of July, 2016: We are very honored to organize a symposium on "Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy" at the 9th International Conference on Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines (ICPP-9) to be held from 3rd - 8th July 2016 in Nanjing, China. Kristjan presented on "Photodynamic decontamination as tool for increasing food safety".

24th of June, 2016: PDI-PLUS@PMU: Barbara and Michael presented their work as two posters at the 7th Paracelsus Science Get Together, Salzburg, Austria.

4th of June, 2016: Finally  back to our friends at the Gebze Technical University in Turkey! Kristjan gave a presentation on "New horizons in antimicrobial treatment: Concepts of boosting Photodynamic Inactivation with nanotechnology" at the 12th Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Conference (NanoTR-12). Special thanks to Prof. Uygar Tazebay for the kind invitation and to Prof. Dogan Erbahar for the perfect organization. The conference was a full success.

3rd of March, 2016: Barbara has passed her final exam and thereby earned the title Master of Science. Congratulations, Barbara!

29th of February, 2016: Nicole successfully defended her PhD thesis and earned the title "Dr. rer. nat.". She gave an excellent presentation and demonstrated her outstanding expert knowledge on PDI. Well done, Niki!

4th of February, 2016: Forum-Meeting: "Komplementärmedizin in europäischen Forschungsprogrammen und in der öffentlichen PatientInnenversorgung" at the General Hospital in Vienna, Austria. Kristjan presented our work in a talk on "Photodynamic Inactivation based on natural photosensitizers as effective antimicrobial approach".

26th of January, 2016: Kristjan gave a presentation with the title "Addressing challenges in the time-resolved analysis of metabolic processes: Automated monitoring of the intracellular protoporphyrin IX – synthesis for Photodynamic Tumor Therapy" at the Fifth Annual Conference of The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS), San Diego, USA.

11th of November, 2015: Martina passed her final exam with greatest success today and thereby earned the academic degree "Master of Science". Congratulations, Martina. We are happy with you.

19th of October, 2015:  We were very honored to welcome Professor Uygar H. Tazebay from Gebze Techical University at our lab PDI-PLUS. Professor Tazebay gave a well-received presentation with the title "Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 124 (Ccdc124) is a centrosome and midbody protein involved in cytokinetic abscission". Thank you for your visit, the interesting talk and the fruitful and inspiring discussion!

30th of September, 2015: Kristjan gave a presentation in frame of the Science Webinar on 'Addressing challenges in data collection:The role of automation in complex translational research'. The webinar is available on demand here (registration required).

4th of September, 2015: Barbara presented her poster and Kristjan gave an invited talk at the 16th Congress of the European Society for Photobiology ESP2015 in Aveiro, Portugal.

1st of July, 2015: Armin Fluch again published an excellent newspaper article in "Der Standard". He discusses our work on Photodynamic Decontamination of foodstuff with other very promising approaches of our partners, namely Cold Plasma (PD Dr. Tim Maisch, University Hospital Regensburg) and Light Pulse Technology (DDI Victoria Heinrich, OFI). 22nd of June, 2015: Barbara received a travel grant from the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences for the 16th Congress of the European Society for Photobiology, Aveiro, Portugal. She will be able to present a poster there. Congratulations!

15th of June, 2015: Kristjan gave a talk on "Photodynamic Inactivation based on natural photosensitizers as effective antimicrobial approach" at the First GTU Photodynamic Day at the Gebze Technical University, Turkey. Thanks to Prof. Fabienne Dumoulin and Prof. Vefa Ahsen for the kind invitation.

12th of November, 2014: PDI-PLUS @ "Der Standard". Armin Fluch has written an excellent article on our research on Photodynamic decontamindation of foodstuff. Please find it here.

11th of July, 2014: PDI-PLUS is on TV again! Dr. Mayr and her team from the ORF visited us and recorded a TV report on "Curry gegen Keime", which could be seen on local TV and Austria-wide.

27th of June, 2014: Nicole and Andre presented their scientific achievements as posters at the Paracelsus Science Get Together 2014, Salzburg, Austria.

26th of June, 2014: Together with his partners Prof. Ghiladi and Prof. Wainwright Kristjan had the honorable opportunity to organize a symposium on "Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy" at the 8th International Conference on Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines (ICPP-8), Istanbul, Turkey. We heard five excellent talks given by top researchers in this field. Kristjan reported on "Photodynamic Inactivation based on natural photosensitizers for food decontamination".

4th of October, 2013: Kristjan gave a talk with the title "Natural drugs to combat bad bugs: photodynamic inactivation based on water-soluble formulations of hypericin or curcumin as novel approach to cure bacterial infections" at the 6th European Congress for Integrative Medicine (ECIM), Berlin, Germany.

6th of September, 2013: We had the great honor to provide technical support to the project "cell camera" of the bio-artist Mag. Reinhard Nestelbacher. Reinhard's artwork is presented at the ARS ELECTRONICA from 5.9.2013 to 9.9.2013. There were also two reports on TV (ORF Salzburg and Oberösterreich).

12th of April, 2013: Doris  passed her final exam with outstanding success today and thereby earned the (second) academic degree "Master of Science". Congratulations, Doris, and good luck for your future!

18th of October, 2012: Kristjan gave a talk with the title "PDI goes green: Photodynamic Inactivation of bacteria based on natural photosensitizers" at the the 9th International Symposium Photodynamic Therapy and Photodiagnosis in Clinical Practice, Brixen, Italy.
