    Der Salzburger Biowissenschaftler Robert R. Junker wird für seine Arbeiten zur Biodiversität mit einer 1,2 Millionen dotierten START- Förderung ausgezeichnet. Ein Ziel von Junkers Projekt „Sequentielle Entstehung von Funktionaler Multidiversität“ ist es, ein umfassendes Verständnis für die Ökosystemprozesse zu erlangen, um so zukünftige Naturschutzmaßnahmen besser planen und ergreifen zu können.
    Die Salzburger Hochschulwochen finden unter dem Titel „ANGST?“ vom 30. Juli bis 5. August in der Großen Aula sowie in Hörsälen der Theologischen Fakultät statt.
    Ass. Prof. Dr. Susanne Auer-Mayer vom Fachbereich Arbeits- und Wirtschaftsrecht der Universität Salzburg wurde von Bundespräsident Alexander van der Bellen mit dem Herbert Tumpel Preis für ihre Habilitationsschrift „Mitverantwortung in der Sozialversicherung“ gewürdigt. Der Preis wird im Rahmen des Theodor Körner Fonds vergeben.
    Tanja Angelovska und Dietmar Roehm (beide von der PLUS) sind als einzige österreichische Wissenschaftler als assoziierte Mitglieder des internationalen Forschungszentrums CARILSE (Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Language Sciences and Education) an der University of Portsmouth nominiert worden.
    Im Jahr 2018 fördert die Europäische Kommission über alles Wissenschaftsdisziplinen hinweg 42 Masterstudiengänge im Programm Erasmus+. Fünf davon werden von österreichischen Universitäten koordiniert, gleich zwei von der Universität Salzburg: Digital Communication Leadership und Digital Earth
    Bundesminister Heinz Faßmann zeichnete kürzlich die Didaktik der Naturwissenschaften (Universität Salzburg - School of Education) für ihre hohe Qualität aus. Die Arbeitsgruppe erhielt wiederholt die Auszeichnung „Regional Educational Competence Center (RECC)“. Dabei wurde die Leistung in Biologie, Chemie, Geometrisches Zeichnen/Darstellende Geometrie, Informatik, Mathematik, Mediendidaktik und Physik honoriert.
    Die 6. Salzburg Summer School findet vom 3. bis 4. September 2018 statt. Zwei Tage lang wird ein umfassendes pädagogisches Sommerfortbildungsprogramm für Lehrkräfte und Lehramtsstudierende aller Schulformen und Unterrichtsfächer angeboten. Anmeldungen sind möglich.
