On Friday, 27 September 2019,
Dr. Ruth Abramowski
was awarded the dissertation prize of the Austrian Association for Sociology in the field of Sociology of Family for her dissertation entitled "Bringing Power Back In: On the continuity of traditional division of household tasks within couples - A European comparison".

The award ceremony took place during the

Dženeta Karabegović was interviewed by Bosnia and Herzegovina's largest daily newspaper on May 21, 2019. She discussed the potential of the country's academic diaspora as an underutilized resource. She also reflected on the quality of the country's higher education system and its effect on emigration more generally. Migration and Mobilities Study Group (MMG)

The Migration and Mobilities Study Group (MMG) is a collective that brings together several thematic groups of scholars within migration and mobility studies at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg (PLUS). PLUS-MMG has become an institutional member of the IMISCOE (International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion)! It is Europe’s largest network of scholars in the area of migration and integration.

Sociology Research Colloquium

Starting in the summer term of 2018, the Department of Sociology and Cultural Studies will hold a colloquium to present current and completed research work.External speakers will also be invited to individual sessions.

The individual sessions take place on Wednesdays, 9-11 a.m., at HS 384.

    You want to start a teaching degree at the University of Salzburg and are considering choosing one ( or even two) Romance language(s) but you have some questions, uncertainties or doubts about the possibilities and the university level education in the Department of Fachbereich Romance Studies?
    The project „Digital Innovation Hub West“ is funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs. In addition to public cooperation partners Austria's universities and universities of applied sciences are also involved. The University of Salzburg is also participating in this project, and is represented by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Andreas Uhl (Department of Computer Sciences).
    The Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, in cooperation with Doctors without Borders, is opening a Christian Doppler Laboratory for geospatial and earth observation based humanitarian technologies (gEOhum).The opening took place virtually on the 8th July 2020.
    Salzburg's church historian Prof. Dietmar W. Winkler will continue to work as a consultant to the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity. Pope Francis has extended the Salzburger theologian's advisory role. Prof. Winkler was first appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. in 2008.
    At the end of March, in the middle of the Corona pandemic, Croatia was hit by a severe earthquake. With this special call ÖAW (Austrian Academy of Sciences) sets a humanitarian sign and does its utmost best to support scientific collaboration with Croatian colleagues.
    The International Data Week - a top class specialist congress with 900 participants from the field of data science - will take place for the first time in October 2023 in Europe. The city of Salzburg was able to beat numerous other applicants to be the hosts of the event. The University of Salzburg is an important cooperation partner.
    From October 2020 the University of Salzburg will be offering the new bachelor's degree „Medical Biology“. The course aims to convey the diversity of the biomedical science disciplines and therefore facilitates a multi-faceted, biological understanding for topics which are essential for medicine.The course content ranges from the small scale structure of the cell and organs and organ systems to the biology of complex interpersonal interactions.
    150 participants have already taken the opportunity to register for more than 50 courses on IT and digitialisation at the ditact_women's IT summer studies at the University of Salzburg, which will take place from the 01.09.-12.09.2020.Registration is still possible until the 12. July and then the remaining places will be taken as last minute reservations.
