In my research I investigate how people deal with different kinds of discrepancies. In particular I focus on discrepancies that are present when people are facing threats to their psychological needs (e.g., being threatened in one’s own freedom). In my research I am addressing the following areas:
Consultancies
- What are the similarities and differences between different kinds of consultancies (coaching, training, mentoring, supervision) with regard to the fulfillment of basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence, relatedness)
- How do consultancies – especially coaching – work? What are the underlying (neuro-)psychological processes?
Threats
- How do people experience threats (e.g., freedom threats, uncontrollability, uncertainty)
- What are the consequences of threats on a (neuro-)psychological, cognitive, behavioral, and interactional level?
