Dear Students and Visitors at the Faculty of Natural Science University Salzburg!

I welcome you on behalf of all members at our faculty! We are pleased that you are interested in our studies.

Approximately 5.000 students take advantage from our offer of currently 8 Bachelor's and 13 Master's fields of study (Psychology, Biology, Medical Biology, Molecular Biosciences, Computer Science, Applied Image and Signal Processing, Chemistry and Physics of Materials, Geography, Applied Geoinformatics, Engineer and Material Science, Mathematics, Geology, Data Science), 5 Secondary School Teacher Accreditations (Biology and Environmental Studies, Geography and Economics, Informatics and Informatics Management, Mathematics, Physics ) and PhD studies in all these subjects (including three externally funded Doctoral Programmes).

In addition to offer a diversity of courses, it is our endeavor to involve students in all stages of their studies in our research activities.

To emphasize the national and international attractiveness of our faculty, we offer a variety of courses given in English.

Furthermore we support through a number of programmes the international mobility of our students, which is becoming increasingly important these days in terms of career prospects.

We hope to provide you with our offer the necessary commitment, motivation and joy for the study and to create a good basis for the use of the wide range of career opportunities.

    On Friday, 13 April, the University of Salzburg awarded the biologist, Verena Lentsch, and the geologist, Eva Wagenhofer, the Marie Andessner Prize for their outstanding scientific Master’s theses. Dissertation scholarships were awarded to political scientist, Sarah Dingler; Germanist, Anna Estermann; Romanist, Birgit Füreder; and musicologist, Magdalena Marschütz.

    Radka Symonova will hold a guest lecture on 20 April, 2018, at 14:00 in the NW Faculty's Hörsaal 421 on the topic of "AT/GC Compositional Genome Evolution in Lower Versus Higher Vertebrates". The Department of Life Sciences invites you to attend!
    The lecture series, Educational Migration Research in a Comparative Perspective, launches on 17 April, 2018, 17:15 - 18:45, HS Thomas Bernhard (Unipark).
    The series SWEET SPOT sees itself as a forum for classical and completely new productions of electro-acoustic music in Salzburg. In a lounge atmosphere, completely new but also "classics" of the genre are heard and collectively discussed. Each concert is accompanied by a short introduction and the opportunity to discuss what has been heard over a glass of wine.

    On 9 April, 2018, Karl-Markus Gauss presented his book "Die Bibliothekarinnen von Renens. Reden" in the Bibliotheksaula of the University Library Salzburg.
    How can we intervene artistically, culturally and via the media in visible and invisible rules and norms? How can the current situation of art, politics and economy be questioned? We look for answers to these questions in various workshops. We want to open up new perspectives on our society and create countermovements.
