  • General Information
If the University Library of Salzburg cannot provide you with a book, PhD dissertation, journal or journal article that you need, it will gladly order the desired item for you from a different national or international library. Please check our own holdings via UBsearch, our E-Journal Library EZB and our card catalogues before placing an interlibrary loan (ILL) order and make sure that the item you need is really not available at the University Library of Salzburg. Please note that our library offers many journal articles online as full texts. The University Library of Salzburg allows school libraries from the province of Salzburg (excluding school libraries from the city of Salzburg) to place ILL orders.
Please contact the information desk of our Main Library for detailed information: phone. +43 662 8044 x77350 or x77360, e-mail: info.hb(at)sbg.ac.at.

  • Delivery Time
The delivery of an ILL item takes from a few days to several weeks! This is due to a complex handling process and the transport by mail. ILL orders are processed in our own house promptly, and we place the ILL order at the partner library at the latest on the following workday. From this point onwards, we can no longer influence the order. We will instantly send you a notice by mail or email as soon as the ordered item will have arrived at our library.

  • Placing an ILL Order
Please check our library catalogue (UBsearch) to see if your desired item is available at our library. If this is not the case, place an ILL order at the Fernleihe of our UBsearch. Please sign in to your personal online library account for an inter-library loan.

  • Ordering Books or Articles/Chapters from a Book
Please fill in the ILL form for books (Buchbestellung). Fields marked by a red asterisk are mandatory. The more information you provide, the faster the ordering process is. Please select if you want to borrow the desired book from national libraries only. International inter-library loans are more expensive. You can find a list of your ILL-orders in your personal online library account.

  • Ordering a Journal Article
Please fill in the ILL form for journal articles (Zeitschriftenartikel). Fields marked by a red asterisk are mandatory. The more information you provide, the faster your ordering process is. Please select if you want to borrow the desired article from national libraries only. International inter-library loans are more expensive. You can find a list of your ILL-orders in your personal online library account.

  • Picking up Your ILL Item
We will instantly send you a notice by mail or email as soon as the ordered item will have arrived at our library. ILL items, including copies of journal articles, are to be collected at the loans desk (Leihstelle) on the ground floor of the Main Library. Please note that the borrowing library might ask you to read the ordered item in our reading rooms only. Unfortunately we can neither influence nor alter this decision. You will have to return your ILL item four weeks after its arrival at the latest.

  • Document Delivery Service
Document delivery services are commercial companies which make copies of articles from periodicals or books and send them to the patron for money. Private patrons can use these services. Orders are placed by the patron, not the library.
