22 – 24 February, Conference: Andacht – Repräsentation – Gelehrsamkeit. Der Bußpsalmencodex Albrechts V. (BSB München, Mus.Ms. A)

Munich, 22 - 24 February, 2017. Organization: Andrea Gottdang (University of Salzburg) and Bernhold Schmid (Bavarian Academy of Sciences, Munich), with the collaboration of Gabriel Negraschus (University of Salzburg).

Herzog Albrecht V. ließ zwischen 1558 und 1570 eine Prachthandschrift anfertigen, die heute zu den Tresorhandschriften der BSB München gehört. Der „Bußpsalmencodex“ enthält den Text und die Komposition der Bußpsalmen von Orlando di Lasso. Hans Mielich illuminierte jede der über 400 Seiten; der Gelehrte Samuel Quicchelberg verfasste eine Declaratio.


Dem Konzept nach erfüllt Mus.ms. A mehrere Funktionen: als Chorbuch, als Repräsentationsobjekt, als Enzyklopädie und als – überdimensionales – Andachtsbuch, das ein dezidiertes Bekenntnis zum katholischen Glauben ablegt. Die internationale Tagung soll den Grundstein zur interdisziplinären Erforschung des Codex legen. Expertinnen und Experten der Kunstgeschichte, Musikwissenschaft, Theologie, der lateinischen Philologie und der Bayerischen Landesgeschichte beleuchten die Funktionen und die komplexen ikonographischen Programme des Bußpsalmencodex.

    In 2017, the Doppler principle celebrates its 175th anniversary. The physicist Christian Doppler, born in Salzburg in 1803, presented his main work at the University of Prague on 25 May, 1842, on "Das farbige Licht der Doppelsterne", in which he described the principle known as the Doppler effect for the first time.
