DESTA Project of the International Political Economy Society (IPES)

The Design of Trade Agreements (DESTA) Project of Political Science at the University of Salzburg received first prize from the International Political Economy Society (IPES) for the best dataset in the field of International Political Economy.

Die Abteilung Politikwissenschaft ist mit Prof. Andreas Dür als Co-Initiator und Co-Leiter und Lisa Lechner als Projektmitarbeiterin führend an diesem Projekt beteiligt. Der Datensatz enthält Daten zum Inhalt von fast 700 präferentiellen Handelsabkommen. Diese Daten können unter anderem dazu verwendet werden, die Breite und die Tiefe dieser Abkommen zu messen. Sie werden von Forscherinnen und Forschern in der ganzen Welt zur Beantwortung ganz unterschiedlicher Fragen eingesetzt. Zudem wurden die Daten auch schon von internationalen Medien aufgegriffen.

    The working world is in a state of upheaval. Keywords such as “industry 4.0” or “digital transformation” are common. Triggered by ever more powerful IT systems, highly developed robotics and sensor technology, 3D printers, Clouds or "Big Data", life and work are changing fundamentally, which means there are both opportunities and risks.
    Thanks to a generous legacy by Kurt Zopf, the University of Salzburg awards the Kurt-Zopf Prize, which is endowed with 10,000 euros, for habilitated members of organizational units of the university, which cover the areas of humanities, cultural and / or social science, jurisprudence or theology.
