21 June: Insights. Informational Evening for the Master’s Study Program in Jewish Cultural History

Members of the Center for Jewish Cultural History and students of the program will provide information about the unique Austria-wide Master’s study program on Jewish Cultural History.

Die Info-Veranstaltung hat das Ziel, das an der Universität Salzburg angebotene und in Österreich einzigartige Masterstudium der Jüdischen Kulturgeschichte einer größeren Anzahl Studierender bekannt zu machen. Lehrende und Studierende werden die einzelnen Teilaspekte des Studiums wie jüdische Kultur- und Religionsgeschichte, Spracherwerb (Modernhebräisch, Jiddisch) und Zeitgeschichte vorstellen. Außerdem wird über Partnerschaften mit ausländischen Universitäten und mögliche Berufsfelder informiert.

Im Anschluss an die Veranstaltung besteht die Möglichkeit zum persönlichen Gespräch.

    Sign language is processed in the brain in the same way as spoken language and is equivalent to spoken language. This is a core result of the studies of the linguist, Julia Krebs of, the University of Salzburg.
    Andreas Dür is a political scientist at the University of Salzburg. He is involved in a project financed by the European Research Council (ERC) on the question of power in economic negotiations.
    In his dissertation, the sports scientist, Florian Rieder, from the University of Salzburg came to the conclusion that vibration training has a developing effect on the patellar tendon at the knee. Now, the FWF is funding a follow-up study that examines whether this training also helps as a therapy for knee pain due to degeneration of the patella tendon (tendinopathy). Participants are being sought for this Sports Medicine study.
    The Salzburg biologist Gerhard Obermeyer has received almost 400,000 Euro from the FWF Science Fund for a pollen research project, which makes an important contribution to the future safeguarding of harvest yields of food crops.
    The Munich group of the Alumni Club was founded last week with a kick-off event in the Kunsthalle. It is also possible to keep close contact with graduates who do not live in Salzburg and to offer them a common communication platform.
    In Salzburg, the art business will be in full swing in Summer 2017. During the five week Festival, the city, as the cultural centre, is promoting numerous musical and theatrical productions, as well as exhibitions.
    The Summer Uni "ditact_women's IT" of the University of Salzburg is specifically aimed at women with technical interests. It takes place from 21 August to 2 September at the Unipark Nonntal and at the Fachhochschule Salzburg. Information: http://www.ditact.ac.at.
