14 May: EXHIBITION "Die Collage als Schnittstelle disparater Ebenen"

„Collage-Technik ist die systematische Ausbeutung des zufälligen oder künstlich provozierten Zusammentreffens von zwei oder mehr wesensfremden Realitäten auf einer augenscheinlich dafür ungeeigneten Ebene — und der Funke Poesie, welcher bei der Annäherung dieser Realitäten überspringt.“ Max Ernst

Dem Sammeln von Ausgangsmaterial als essentieller Bestandteil des Prinzips Collage folgt das Experimentieren. Zwischen der bewusst geplanten Umsetzung von Ideen und Intentionen einerseits, und dem Unkontrollierbaren des Zufalls als Gestaltungsmittel andererseits, wollten wir Wahrnehmung und Phantasiebereitschaft sowie der Auflockerung festgefahrener Denkweisen Raum geben. Das Thema war frei und wurde als Teil der Aufgabe individuell erarbeitet. Am Ende des Workshops haben die Studierenden eine Serie eigener Collagen realisiert.

Konzeption, Workshopleitung: Alexandra Baumgartner, 1973 geboren in Salzburg, lebt und arbeitet in Wien und Berlin, hat an der Universität Mozarteum Salzburg und an der Universität für Angewandte Kunst in Wien studiert. Ihre Arbeiten sind an der Schnittstelle von Fotografie, Collage, Malerei und Installation angesiedelt. Ausgangsmaterial sind dabei gefundene Fotografien und Objekte, die sie durch minimale Eingriffe verändert und in einen neuen Kontext stellt.

    In the current Economists' Ranking of the German Handelsblatt, University Professor Florian Huber (31), from the Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies (SCEUS), placed 100th place in the ranking for current research achievement and 62nd place in the Young Economists' ranking, which rates the overall research performance of under-40s.
    The orientation events for Erasmus and exchange students who will be attending the University of Salzburg in the winter semester 2019/2020 will take place from Monday, the 16th of September to Friday, the 27th of September, 2019.
    On Tuesday, 1 October, 2019, an informative event will be held at 17:15 in HS 3.348 (Unipark, 3rd floor, Department of Romance Studies), which is aimed primarily at all newly enrolled students of the Master's programme. Additionally, current students of the subject, as well as other interested parties are cordially invited to attend.
    On 17 September, 2019, Prof. Heinrich Schmidinger, the outgoing Rector of the University of Salzburg, was awarded the city seal in gold by Mayor Harry Preuner for his services to the city of Salzburg.
    Dr. Therese Wohlschlager will be awarded the Feigl Prize of the Austrian Society for Analytical Chemistry on lthe 25th of September, 2019, during the 18th Austrian Chemistry Days 2019 in Linz.
    From the labor market to immigration. How have attitudes and ways of life changed in Austria in the last decades? This will be the main focus at the University of Salzburg during the Congress "Everything in Transition? Dynamics and continuities of modern societies." The congress is organized by the Austrian Society for Sociology and will take place from 26 to 28 September, 2019.
    As in the case of the recent European elections, a team from the Political Science Department of the University of Salzburg, together with the digital agency MOVACT, drafted a digital election assistance tool for the 29 September National elections on - the WahlSwiper.

    The Salzburg Armenologist, Jasmine Dum-Tragut, opens the first exhibition on 31 August, 2019, at the Genocide Museum in Yerevan. The exhibition shows the fate of Armenian prisoners of war in the Austrian prison camps during the First World War.

    Democracy and the rule of law seem to have experienced better times in Europe. The recent developments in many countries point to a dismantling of the rule of law, fundamental rights and democracy.
