The FB KoWi cordially invites you to attend a guest lecture on “How News Use is Changing Across the World”. Richard Fletcher - Reuters Institute, University of Oxford.

Der jährliche Digital News Report des Reuters Institute der Universität Oxford ist die weltweit größte Studie zur Nachrichtennutzung (38 Länder). Im internationalen Vergleich zeigt die Studie globale Trends und nationale Besonderheiten, v.a. im Hinblick auf die Verbreitung von digitalen Nachrichtenangeboten, Vertrauen in Nachrichten, Fake News und Medienkompetenz. Dr. Richard Fletcher ist Lead Researcher der aktuellen Studie aus 2019 und gibt Einblicke in die Datenerhebung und –interpretation.  Die Veranstaltung wird vom Fachbereich Kommunikationswissenschaft organisiert, der zugleich der nationale Partner für Österreich und Herausgeber des Österreich-Detailberichts ist.     Salzburg biologists Anja Hörger and Stephanie Socher receive 150,000 Euros in funding for their courageous project idea within the framework of the new “1000 ideas program” from the Austrian Science Fund FWF. Over the next two years the young scientists “Immortal Titans”, will analyze the huge genome of the Titan Arum, the largest flower in the world. The “1000 Ideas Programme” is intended to support high-risk research in order to increase Austria's innovative strength.
    Farid Hafez, Senior PostDoc Fellow in the Department of Political Science receives the ‘Islam on the Edges’-Grant from Shenandoah University/USA.
    Roman Wild is the new head of the specialist workshop of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Mr Wild has already worked in the specialist workshop for 5 ½ years and previously worked as a product manager (in the field of customer service and repairs) at Hale electronic.
    During the time of Corona, in particular, it became clear just how important it is to support students digitally in their every day university life. The project „On Track“ – stay on track combines digital and social worlds. It is starting at the right time!
    You want to start a teaching degree at the University of Salzburg and are considering choosing one ( or even two) Romance language(s) but you have some questions, uncertainties or doubts about the possibilities and the university level education in the Department of Fachbereich Romance Studies?
    150 participants have already taken the opportunity to register for more than 50 courses on IT and digitialisation at the ditact_women's IT summer studies at the University of Salzburg, which will take place from the 01.09.-12.09.2020.Registration is still possible until the 12. July and then the remaining places will be taken as last minute reservations.
