Summer Term 2019: Seminar Space Law
with an excursion to the European Space Agency and a visit to the new VEGA observatory
Introduction to the general principles of international space law, including function and sources of space law, rights and obligations of States and other actors in outer space, responsibility and liability, environmental aspects of space activities, exploitation of natural resources in outer space, national regulation of space activities.
One of the lectures will likely take place at the new VEGA observatory in Obertrum am See. This visit will include a private tour of the facility. Furthermore, an excursion to the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), in Noordwijk, Netherlands, which is the largest site of the European Space Agency (ESA) is planned for the end of May/beginning of June 2019.
The knowledge gained during the lectures should then be applied in the course of a one-day simulation (details will be announced in the preliminary meeting) that will take place at ESTEC.
