The new Rectorate of the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg welcomes you! We look forward to working with you at this university, which is as traditional as it is forward-looking. There are great challenges and exciting times ahead! With confidence and respect towards all employees and acknowledgement of individual responsibility, we want to create an innovative and creative environment at our university and, based on exceptional teaching and research, examine new things and put them to the tried and tested. Challenges are seen as an opportunity - with the aim of making Salzburg an internationally recognized university city. We look forward to seeing you and interacting with you through these pages - which are currently still a "work in progress".

The Rectorate Team and their tasks:

Hendrik Lehnert focuses on the areas of International Relations, Personnel, Communication and Structural Development. He will initiate scientific cooperation and network the university both nationally and internationally. Lehnert studied psychology and medicine in Münster and did research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Medical School in Boston. From 2014-17 he was President of the University of Lübeck and most recently was the Director of the Medical University Hospital Lübeck.

Nicola Hüsing is Professor of Materials Chemistry and has taken over the Vice Rectorate for "Research and Sustainability". She was previously head of the Department of Chemistry and Physics of Materials. Her research interests focus on the development of new synthetic routes to functional, hybrid materials. She is a member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the European Academy of Sciences.

Martin Auer is responsible for the Vice Rectorate "Infrastructure and Digitization" from July 1st, 2020. He is a professor of corporate law and an expert in business law, also firmly anchored in practice. In addition to corporate law, Martin Auer also represents civil law at PLUS.

Barbara Romauer assumes the budgetary responsibility for the University of Salzburg with the Vice Rectorate "Finance and Resources". Romauer previously looked after the finances of the Johannes Kepler University Linz. She studied business administration with a focus on accounting and business taxation, as well as auditing. She has held several positions in the economy and holds a number of supervisory board mandates.

Martin Weichbold dedicates himself as the Vice Rectorate of "Academic Affairs". He is responsible as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and is also the acting President of the Austrian Society for Sociology. His main area of interest, among others, includes comparative empirical social research. For many years, he has gained extraordinary experience in teaching and teaching coordination.

    Never before have so many forensic patients been accommodated in Austria as of the effective date of 1st October 2020. Relief from the enforcement of the measures and also the treatment of seriously abnormal lawbreakers, is urgently required and unavoidable.
    Digitization has led to an enormous spread of different forms of mobile working. Corona has brought an additional boost and has introduced home office in areas and for activities that were previously unimaginable.
    The virtual international conference „The Mediality of the Letter – diplomatic Correspondence in the Context of Early Modern Letter Culture ” will take place via Webex on 29th/30th/31st October.
    In social pedagogical practice employees (agents) are confronted with a variety of challenges in complex, open social problem situations that have to be dealt with "professionally“ and with „ qualitatively“.
    As part of a six year long laser scan-monitoring in the Hohen Tauern geoscientists from Austria, Germany and Switzerland (GEORESEARCH, University of Salzburg, TU Munich, University of Bonn, University of Lausanne) examined the connection between the current glacier retreat and rockfall activity.

    The Faculty of Slavic Studies, the cultural centre DAS KINO and the Russian Centre invite you to the fifth series of cinema films from Eastern and Central Europe. As part of the film club „Slawistyka, Slavistika, Cлавистика“ award winning current Polish, Russian and Czech films with political and social themes will be shown.
    Applications for two dissertation prizes (worth 2,000 euros each) can be made until the 31st October.
    The Language Center has been active in the field of intercomprehension didactics for almost 20 years,Well-known multilingual didactics experts, came together to present the current state of research in this area.The result is the anthology "Lehr- und Lernkompetenzen für die Interkompehension. Perspektiven für die mehrsprachige Bildung (Teaching and Learning Skills for Intercomprehension. Perspectives for Multilingual Education)"Band 10 der Salzburger Reihe zur Lehrer/innen/bildung.
    During the time of Corona, in particular, it became clear just how important it is to support students digitally in their every day university life. The project „On Track“ – stay on track combines digital and social worlds. It is starting at the right time!
