Barrierefreiheit: Kurzbeschreibung des BildesOpen Access publication is an advantage for…

…scientists and scholars
Literature which is searchable as full text and indexed in search engines is highly visible and therefore has a big impact, wide audience and high citation rate. Document servers allocate persistent identifiers and thus ensure the stable addressing and permanent referencing of documents.

…science in general
Open Access means an enormous advantage for science in general. It ensures a fast distribution, networking and circulation of knowledge and an increased reproducibility of results.

…the tax payer
Publicly funded research should be public property. In addition, tax payers have to pay twice if they finance scientific and scholarly research and the publication of its results in the form of journal subscriptions.

For decades the prices of journals have increased to a higher extent than scientific budgets. This is a danger to comprehensive literature supply. At the same time some journals realize profits of over 30%.
